food

While I was grocery shopping tonight, I decided that I didn’t feel like eating any of the cooked food I had waiting for me in my fridge, so I came up with this recipe on the fly.  It was inspired both by the huge container of organic spinach I had in my cart (for the Green Monster Smoothies) and by the fact that the weather has turned into autumn almost overnight. Whole Wheat Elbows with Spinach, Mushrooms x 2, & Turkey Ingredients: 12.5 oz whole wheat elbow pasta 1.25 lb lean grou

Sales of coffee are soaring in America. One of the largest areas of sales are in espresso, cappuccinos, and lattes. While you may think that it is only possible to get a good espresso at a drive through coffee stand, by choosing from the many espresso coffee makers available for home brewing, you can make a great cup of espresso at home.

Some inexpensive electric espresso coffee machines can be purchased in the thirty to fifty dollar range.

These inexpensive espresso coffee makers use steam power to force the hot water through the coffee grounds. There is a sealed chamber that the water is placed in. As steam pressure builds the water is forced out and through the grounds that have been tightly packed. True espresso lovers say that the water is not forced through the grounds in a steam machine with enough pressure to produce a cup of true espresso.

These inexpensive espresso coffee makers also often have a valve that allows to steam to be redirected through a side vent for steaming milk.

More expensive coffee coffee making machines with the pump for forcing the hot water through the coffee can cost over five thousand dollars, although some very well liked models cost only one hundred fifty dollars.

While some of the more expensive espresso coffee making machines also have a steaming port, many do not offer this feature. If you find that you need this feature, then make sure that the machine you choose has it available.

For a true Italian cup of espresso, stovetop models are inexpensive and readily available in the United States. Water is placed in the lower portion of the pot, coffee placed in the filter and the whole pot is placed on any type of stove for heating. The process takes about three to five minutes and users swear that you cannot tell the difference between stovetop espresso and the expensive pump models.

If you decide to go with a stovetop model, remember that espresso cups are very small, only 1. 5 to 2 ounces each. Otherwise, you may buy a nine cup espresso maker expecting it to have a pot the size of your Mr. Coffee and find that it only holds about one large coffee mug of espresso.

The only complaints about the stovetop espresso coffee making machines were for the cheapest of models that were made in PRC rather than in Italy. These models tend to have internal parts break and replacement parts are not available, making it necessary to replace the entire espresso maker.

All users of espresso coffee machines agree that a food coffee bean is the key to a great cup of espresso. If there is a coffee roaster in your hometown, buy freshly roasted beans there to take home to make your espresso. Coffee beans start to loose quality as soon as the roasting process is ended, and are best when used within one week of roasting.

Coffee beans should be bought in quantities that can be used within a week and ground freshly every day. Using freshly ground freshly roasted beans will give the best cup of espresso each day.

Before buying an Italian espresso maker, it is vital to do some research and testing if possible. Italian espresso makers can vary greatly in price and quality.

Ever hear the phrase “easy as pie”. They may have been talking about pizza dough making because it actually is very simple.

The fact is most pizza doughs only have about five very simple ingredients. Flour, water, oil, salt and yeast are the usual suspects.

Not only does pizza dough making not require many ingredients, it also doesn’t take a lot of time. The longest time period is waiting for the proofing process (the rising of the dough). But you can be doing other things.

There are numerous recipes available on the Internet for pizza dough making. Just select a simple one to start and the process should go like this:

First assemble all your ingredients in the quantities called for. Having all your ingredients ready to go before you begin saves a lot of time and makes things go much more smoothly.

Add and mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add the water, making sure it’s not too far above or below a temperature of 105 degrees. That’s the optimum temperature for the yeast to do it’s thing.

Combine or “cut” the dry ingredients together until a loose pizza dough ball forms, then add the oil. Continue to mix until the oil is absorbed and all ingredients have been incorporated into the dough ball.

Place the dough on a flour-dusted surface. Add a tiny amount of flour to the dough ball as it will be quick sticky. Put some on your hands as well to prevent sticking. Knead the dough by pressing down and away from you. Fold it over on itself, turn 90 degrees and knead again. Keep this up for about 5 minutes.

Knead the pizza dough making dough ball for approximately five minutes or until it takes on a smooth appearance and is very elastic. Form the dough into a nice round ball when done.

Coat a bowl with oil and place the dough ball into it. Move the ball around to coat it lightly all over with oil. Put a piece of plastic wrap over the bowl, then move it to a warm, but not hot, location in the kitchen. Wait about two hours and check to see if it has doubled in size.

After the dough has risen, remove it to a flour-dusted surface and begin rolling it out to shape with a rolling pin. Unless you want a thick crust, most people roll in out to a 1/8″ thickness.

Once finished, gently pick it up and place it into your baking pan. Shape and trim the dough as necessary.

Guess what? You just succeeded one your first attempt at pizza dough making!

Writing notes in a diary is a great way to keep an eye on what you’re eating. Start a full week before you plan to commence dieting. Make a note of all the things you have, and be scrupulously honest! Look at what you’ve written down, and after a few days you should be in a position to see where adjustments could be made.

Clearly if you’re eating too much fried or processed food, or drinking several glasses of wine or beer, you could start by cutting down on those. But if that’s not the case, and what you’re eating looks OK, then just reduce the amount. Either way, use your food diary as the basis for the changes you wish to make.

Then take the next seven days and write down exactly what you’re going to stick to. Put everything down relating to exercise, food and drink. With regard to food, note what you can’t eat, and what you’ll only eat occasionally. Also write down the alternative food that you do plan to eat.

As far as alcohol is concerned, keep it to a minimum. Write down when it’s not allowed, and when and how much it is allowed. Fizzy sugar-laden beverages must go! With regard to exercise, write down a reasonable routine that you will stick to.

Early in the morning on the first day of your diet, take an accurate reading of your weight. Assess your progress each week, and adjust where necessary. Make a note of your weight in your diary once a week.

You have absolute control when you record everything you do. Useful observations jotted in the diary will help to make the following weeks more enjoyable. Mark down which days you completed your proposed exercises. Monitoring your weight and health is so much more manageable with a personal record.

It won’t happen overnight though. At first, it seems to be all effort and no reward! Try to exercise patience, and do persevere. Staying motivated can be difficult, so it’s important to focus on the rewards and not the effort.

If you do get demoralised with your results, analyse what’s been happening. Could your diet do with a bit of modification? Additional physical activity can help you catch up. Are there any fitness classes you could attend in the evening?

Celebrate your achievements along the way. An extended diet can be too demanding if you don’t. Clothes shopping isn’t appropriate ’til you’ve reached your target weight. However, there’s nothing wrong with a theatre trip to celebrate a milestone.

Purchasing a new grill can be a confusing process for new grill owners with all different terms and features out there. So if you’re thinking of buying that new grill that you have been longer for some time this summer you should keep on reading as I will explain how you can go about learning all the different terms and features that you need to know.

When choosing a new grill, one of the first things you need to think about is the fuel type. It is important to choose a type that fits you needs. The 3 basic types are: charcoal, wood, and gas. There are variants on each type of course.

You must understand most if not all of the different grill terms if you want to buy a new grill this season. The most common phrase that you will hear is that of the British Thermal Unit (BTU). A BTU is the quantity of heat it requires to raise one pound of water by one degree.

The grilling surface size of the outdoor grill in question is another important feature that you have to consider. If you only grill for you or 1 other, you can get away with a cheap smaller grill most of the time. On the other hand if you need to cook for a big family or like to grill for get-togethers you will probably need a bigger grill that can handle your needs.

The last thing you should think about when choosing a new grill is how easy is it to maintain and clean. See if it has any features that allow you to clean it easier. It may have a cleaning door or even a self-cleaning feature which could save you hours. This is especially true for gas or smoker grills that can be very sloppy and hard to clean.

And finally you need to know what to do with all this information. Well first you need to look all the unique fuel types that would be acceptable for you and make an informed decision about which would be best for your situation. Then you need to look at the varying sizes and brands of that particular type of outdoor grill. And last but not least, look at the assorted special amenities that you need and see which models have them. Then it’s just a matter of price vs quality. If you have followed along in this article than you should have no trouble at all.

What makes a nice material for a patio set? It depends largely on your taste and budget. If you want something that is practical, then you might want to go with a plastic set. The nice thing about plastic is that it comes in a wide range of styles and colors. It is also easy to clean and move around to a different location in your yard. It is lightweight and can usually be dismantled if you need to store them inside your garage during the winter. In terms of cost, usability and flexibility, it’s 100% a great deal.

A wooden patio set is more appealing to many because of its warm looks and natural materials. It gives you a more elegant look for your backyard. Wood furniture is definitely more costly than plastic but it is also more durable and will last longer with reasonable care. I love cooking and eating lasagna. However, it can be tough and intimidating, but with the right cooking tips, you can make it delicious. Most tips that you’ve heard of before, I left out and only wanted to include tips that you probably haven’t seen before. With these tips you are guaranteed to make a delicious lasagna.

For the meat sauce, I combine a couple types of meat. I like to use 3 meats: beef, pork and turkey for the best flavor. I prefer using dried noodles and I make sure to add a lot of the sauce around the noodles. This will allow the noodles to soften up while baking and the lasagna will not be runny because I did not boil the noodles before adding them to the lasagna.

With any recipe, fresher is always better. There is no dish out there that tastes better with ingredients that are not fresh. When I think of what needs to be fresh in the lasagna, it starts with the cheese. With the Parmesan cheese, I prefer the freshly grated type. And with mozzarella cheese, you have to find the best and the freshest type of mozzarella. This step is pretty easy. Buy fresh cheese.

Do not add liquid to your pasta sauce. You want your sauce to be thick, especially if you add veggies to your sauce. The veggies will add extra liquid to your pasta sauce.

Cover your lasagna with aluminum foil while it bakes to avoid burning the top of the lasagna. You can remove the aluminum foil during the last 20 minutes of baking. This will allow the top of the lasagna to cook nicely and brown without burning.

You have to lubricate the bottom of your baking dish or the lasagna will stick to it. Be sure to spray your baking dish AND put a little sauce on the bottom so the noodles won’t stick or get tough.

Drain meat VERY well to keep lasagna from being runny.

Use eggs for binder. Try three eggs with meat, spaghetti sauce, cream cheese, cottage or ricotta cheese, mozzarella, and noodles.

You can find hundreds of lasagna tips throughout the internet. I’ve just included the most important tips for your lasagna. You can also make vegetarian lasagna, but I absolutely love Meat Lasagna and that’s all I usually make. Good luck with your lasagna!

Try this easy meat lasagna recipe.
