Chocolate Gift Baskets: Sweeter than a Kiss

When it comes to the palate, a chocolate is definitely sweeter than a kiss. But when it comes to emotions, a passionate kiss is more pleasant than this succulent sweet. Not anymore! Researchers found out that melting chocolate in your mouth heightens the brain more than the act of kissing itself. So it may better to start packing chocolate gift baskets for your loved one today, since its now proven that chocolates give better pleasure both to the tongue and to the brain.

20 something year old British couples were subjects in the study. The study measured the emotions released from melting chocolate on the mouth and a passionate kiss on the lips. The scientists used electrodes to measure the heart rate and brain activity of the subjects as they were given chocolate treats containing 60% cocoa.

The results with the chocolate were recorded and then the readings were taken while they were kissing. The results proved to be very interesting. The sweets from the chocolate gift baskets sustained a heightened sense of excitement four times greater and longer than when measured from the kissing. While melting the chocolates in their mouth, the resting heart rate of 60 bpm of the couples increased dramatically to 140 bpm and the brain also received a more intense stimulus from the chocolate than what it received from the kiss.

The researchers attribute the results of the study to the substances found in everyday chocolate gift baskets. Needless to say, it is not surprising that chocolates are one of the most popular gifts to give to loved ones, but to know that the effects of chocolate are actually stronger than a kiss is extraordinary.

Substances, such as phenyl ethylamine, are responsible for the rise in endorphins which are actually the pleasure hormones of the brain. Chocolates also contain caffeine, a powerful stimulant. Theo bromine, another substance abundant in cocoa, also causes mood-elevating effects. Furthermore, serotonin, the happy neurotransmitter, also increases.

The study also found that the best way to enjoy chocolates is to allow the chocolate to melt in your mouth and enjoy the taste on your tongue as if it were a fine wine. You may be able to attain a longer and deeper bliss than that experienced by the subjects in the study.

Although chocolates are good for you, you should remember that they should be enjoyed in moderation.

Now that you know that chocolate gift baskets can provide more stimulus than a passionate kiss, I would not be so quick to replace chocolates for the kisses anytime soon. Because a simple kiss is best when showing your love to your partner, but keep the chocolates close at hand to add a dash of spice and excitement to your romance.
